Through the Eyes of Little Children

Larry Jon Wilson, singer and song writer in the 70"s, wrote a song titled "Through the Eyes of Little Children". It was a poignant reminder that children are observing our behavior, and most likely will develop much of their own ways by patterning ours.

In March, the elders began encouraging us as parents and grandparents to read & study the scriptures with our kids and grandkids, and to pray with them on a daily basis. Sounds easy, but the world (i.e. Satan) will try to discourage that from happening. Consider this…

Jesus told his disciples "better to drown in the depth of the sea than to cause a little one to sin" (Matt 18:6). I believe none of us would deliberately cause a child to disobey God, but we are being seen "through the eyes of little children". What we do with our children and grandchildren could very well effect where they will spend eternity! If we don't live and study God's word...if we don't place worshiping and attending Bible studies our priority... if we don't pray... what makes us think that they will? They are seeing us "through the eyes of little children". By placing a love for God and Godly things into our children, we may be helping them to escape some of the perils of sin as they grow and mature.

In Wilson's song he quotes:

"While we wait you can pray for me,
Make my life a better thing to see
Through the eyes of little children"

On Judgment Day, don't you want to see your children and grandchildren, as they enter into heaven, saying "Thanks for what I saw 'through the eyes of little children'"

Remember - we are leading them somewhere... Read, study, and attend with your children and grandkids...be their best teacher!

And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart: you shall teach them diligently to you children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up." Deut. 6:6-7; 11:18-19
