Our God’s Majesty

As I write this note, the TV in my office is presenting a program on “Electric Fish”, in particular, electric eels. As I watch and listen I cannot ignore the evidence of our God’s majesty. How can anyone see creatures like these, and deny a supreme and tremendous creator? Even the word “creature” come from the same root as “create”. They are not “evolvers” coming out of evolution, they are creatures coming from a creator!

To think that God designed some animals that are highly charged batteries, and the uniqueness of just this one species, is almost beyond human vocabulary and thought. These animals grow quite large and can emit a shock similar to grabbing a 240 volt electrical line! They can emit a shock so strong (up to 700 volts!) to knock a full-grown man off his feet…, which just happened to a man trying to capture one on the documentary that I was watching. In fact, some of the native people’s name for them means - “one who makes you shake”. (That might be an understatement)

And the electric eel is just a single entry in a long list of the fascinating creations offered as evidence of more than just the existence of “intelligent design”. It is evidence of the existence of a majestic and mighty God.

Such a variety of animal life (not counting the other life, such as plants, or bacteria, and especially human beings) is just another reason that we should regard our God and Heavenly Father as majestic. I would love to use the word awesome, but so many things in our society are referred to in that regard, it almost cheapens the wonderment we should have for our Maker. Instead I will let the Spirit give utterance to my praise, wonderment, and fascination for such a majestic creation.

Ps 145:5……“I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works.”

AMEN!
