Are You A Child Of God?
When do we have the right to become children of God?
John 1:12 states “But as many as received Him to them He gave the right to become children of God even to those who believed in His name.” This verse indicates the point in time in which we have the right to become children of God. It is when we receive Him (Jesus Christ) and believe that He is the Son of God. Can we say at this point that we are children of God?

When we believe we then have the right to become a child of God. But we are not children yet. What must we do then to become His child?

One must hear the good news that Jesus is the savior of the world. Acts 4:12
One must believe that Jesus is the savior of the world.  Hebrews 11:6
One must confess his faith in Jesus that He is the Son of God. Matthew 10:32-33 & Acts 8:36-37.
One must repent & be baptized for the remission of his sins. Act 2:38 & Romans 6:3-5.

God’s love is for all.
John 3:16 tells us “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” So, God loves the world. He gave His son so that we do not have to perish & we can obtain eternal life. Because of His love, God sent Jesus to take our sins upon himself. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21. The blood of Jesus is the price that was paid for our salvation. When we examine ourselves by looking at 1 Corinthians 11:28 if the blood of Jesus Christ has not cleansed us through baptism, we are not children of God. Romans 6:3-5 & Ephesians 1:7. We are still in our sins and God cannot have fellowship with us. Do you realize that sin separates us from God?  Isaiah 59:2. We cannot be saved without God’s help. We must believe in His power to save us. It was Jesus who came to seek & save that which was lost. Luke 19:10.

God’s salvation is only for those who obey His word.
John 3:36 says “He who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” If we believe in Jesus we will obey his teaching.  Mark 16:15-16; Matthew 7:21-23; I John 2:4-5. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one goes to the Father except by me.”  John 14:6.   If you would like to study further, please let me know.
