Ponder God’s Gift Of Time
Time is a sobering commodity granted to all— rich, poor, young, old, male, female— and the use of it has timeless, eternal implications! Unless each day is organized and properly managed, it can waste away without accomplishment and pass by without attachment to any purpose.
God’s Word challenges us to “redeem the time,” especially when the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16). In a wicked world, people who have “too much time on their hands” have not spent enough time on their knees! The Psalmist stated: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth, “ adding “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:1,3). Solomon stated that “a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure” (Eccl. 8:5). Hosea stated that “it is time to seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on you” (Hosea 10:12). No one can redeem the time when he or she is rejecting the time-Giver!
People who move about “killing time” are likely injuring themselves for eternity! Since God gives us time, if we waste it, we are stealing from God! Moments in time are worth more than money. Therefore, spend them wisely!
A moment of time is a piece of Your life! The boy who jumped into a swimming pool, rescuing a body suffering from cramps, is said to have saved a life. He, also for a gallant moment, gave up a chunk of his life! When You, by Truth, save a lost soul, that time is attached to eternity (James 5:19,20). Therefore, time can be a dressing room for eternity. Time can be a dressmaker, which is building character. The products of time, as a dressmaker, may need some alterations! Should you re-schedule Your day? Should you take time to alter your disposition?
Time is forever moving. We may recall a moment, but we cannot restore it! Queen Elizabeth I once stated that she would give all of her possessions for a moment of time!¹ One sobering irony of life is that fact that time is one of the most valuable an most perishable entities of all our possessions! Give proper care and attentions to that possession!
While you may have lost some time reading this article, hopefully you will make better and wiser use of the rest of Your day!
