You may not have noticed it, but there’s a new religion that’s emerging. In this religion the majority of traditional sins are minimized and even tolerated in favor of a new group which has come to the forefront. Many followers of this religion openly practice fornication, abortion and dishonesty without guilt. However, certain other sins are intolerable, for example, driving your car to work or asking for plastic bags at the grocery store or even worse, hunting seals for a living. It is impossible to avoid being judged for these sins by the followers of this religion. Of course, you realize that the new religion that I’m talking about is Environmentalism.
Please understand, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t care for the environment. God has given us the earth to live on and to care for but as humans we are more important than the environment. I am insulted when I hear that the death of three Magdalen Islands’ fishermen is not a sad event because they were part of the seal hunt. The seals have become a nuisance because there are too many of them and these fishermen were doing something legal and within their rights in hunting to lower their number.
This planet is not a god, it is a creation of God. We must not worship the creation but rather the Creator. Humans need to worship but refuse to worship God, so they are ready to worship anything in order to fill this void.
Isn’t it interesting to note that the God they refuse to worship will one day destroy the one they do?
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.”
- II Peter 3:10
