“I Am Fearfully & Wonderfully Made...”
Recently, on a cool fall morning, I awoke to the sound of my own breathing. Not snoring (although that has also happened before), this was the normal rhythmic sound of air entering and exiting my lungs. As I lay there wrapped cozily in my blanket and with my eyes closed, I couldn’t help but think of David’s words in Ps 139:14... “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
Science calls it an action of “involuntary muscles”. The body automatically adjusts respiration according to its needs. How wonderful it was that God made me in such a way I didn’t have to think to breathe. At my age, I have enough to try to remember. One breath away from death and I don’t even think about it...God has taken care of it for me.
If you are reading this, you're breathing...
Ps 139:17-18...“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You..”
