Parents, Young People, Our Nation and God

On September 25, 1982, at a candle-light ceremony for prayer in public schools, President Ronald Reagan stated: “Now, no one is suggesting that others should be forced into any religious activity, but to prevent those who believe in God from expressing their faith is an outrage. And the relentless drive to eliminate God from our schools can and should be stopped.”¹ That statement is a common sense fact that needs to be heard and heeded!

The Old Testament states: “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations; His wonderful deeds among all the people… Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength… Worship the Lord in holy array. Tremble before Him, all the earth…For He is coming to judge the earth” (cf. I Chronicles 16:23-33).

In the New Testament, Jesus said to the Apostles, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” (Matthew 28:18f). Paul adds concerning government authorities, “...there is no authority except from God” (Romans 13:1). Paul further stated that God had highly exalted Christ that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and on earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).

Our Pledge of Allegiance still states that the United States of America is “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” To deny or deprive any citizen of the opportunity of praying to God is illogical and shameful. For an individual or corporate group, including the American Civil Liberties Union, to twist Truth to eliminate that communication link with Deity is a sad and gross distortion of human and heaven given facts!

My fellow Americans (and brethren), keep in mind (or at hand) these facts, kindly and appropriately expressing the same when, and as, needed!
