Among the Clouds

We are entering my most favorite time of the year...fall.  Maybe it's yours too.  I love the more pleasant weather, the vivid changing of the leaves, but most of all - the clouds.  This is the time of year God provides us with milder temperatures, the brightest of blues skies, and punctuates them with marshmallow puffs of white clouds.  A divine palate of color for our eyes.

Years ago I was privileged to be piloting among those clouds in a small airplane. Just the plane, a crisp fall day, and me.  I was completely enthralled in the splendor of those pure-white cumulus clouds.  (I can still close my eyes and see the beauty through my mind's eye). Cruising along in that flight I remembered: this is the way the Lord will take us home...in the clouds.  In Acts 1: 10-11, the angels make it plain to the disciples (and us) that Jesus left the earth in the clouds and would return that same way to receive His own.

This fall season, please enjoy those ice blue skies and those wonderful "sky pillow-like clouds".  But imagine how much more beautiful they will be when the Lord comes riding them back to the sound of trumpets, and meeting God's obedient children in the sky! (Will it be you?)

And, as you absorb the beauty of God's handiwork, imagine also the horror they will contain for those who are unfaithful, and those who never obeyed the gospel.  Those clouds will become a symbol of death...not joy...to those lost souls. (Will it be you?)

Consider those clouds as a reminder...HE IS COMING!!  We must be prepared and ready.

He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly."  Amen.  Even so, come, Lord Jesus!  (Rev. 22:20)
