Magnets fascinate me. I certainly don't understand everything about them. Their invisible magnetic field can be seen working, whether generating electricity or levitating a train!
Magnetic forces may be tiny or larger than the earth. Its magnetic field extends from the earth's inner core well into outer space, reflecting excess solar radiation and causing the Northern and Southern lights. Its force makes a compass work and can erase things like VCR tapes. They have the ability to attract or repel by working together or in opposition.
As Christians, we sometimes mimic the magnet:
We can generate a field around us, energizing ourselves and others to service:
Phil 2:4-5..."Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus". Heb 10:24-25..."And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds."
Christians should be a guide (compass) for others:
Titus 2:7... " In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity,
We can use God's Word to repel the Devil:
Eph 6:16-17... "In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." NIV and
2 Thess 3:3... "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one."
Since Christians are capable of attracting or repelling, we must be careful not to erase someone else's chance to become a Christian.
Acts 20:30-31a - " Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard!"
1 Cor 10:32-33 - " Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God—”
Are you a magnetic Christian?
