Skip Along With Joy

I watched a father escort his two young sons into school the other day, with a kid hanging on each arm. The man was walking but the boys were both skipping all the way to the door. As I watched I thought, "there goes two happy kids. they are full of the joy of life." Then I thought about myself and I could not picture me skipping anywhere for anything.

Upon further consideration I realized I do have a reason to have enough joy to skip. That joy is in Jesus Christ. We should all be so full of joy that mentally and spiritually (not necessarily physically) we should be constantly 'skipping'. We should be the happiest people on the earth realizing the love that God and Jesus had for us.

This physical life seems to be filled with ups and downs. It wears us out just trying to keep up.Ps 94:19... "When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul."NIV.

But the promise we have of eternal life should fill us with joy and remove fear and doubt of our future.

Rom 15:13... "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

NIV

Thanks be to God for giving us a reason to skip into eternity and as David said... "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."Ps 51:12NIV
