My father was not normally philosophical, but at times could be a wise man. Though these sayings were to guide me in a physical life, without too much trouble I can find spiritual parallels in the words of our heavenly Father. First my Dad's words.....then my (our) Heavenly Father's....
1. "You don't learn a thing when a mule kicks you the second time." (Stop and leave) -
2 Tim 2:22-23..."Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that theyproduce quarrels."
2. "Want to know how a man will treat his wife? Watch how he treats his mother." (Love and Respect) -
Eph 5:28..."So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;"
3. "All that keeps two opposing cars from colliding is a flat, six inch strip of yellow paint."(Caution, defensive) -
Eph 5:7..."Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,"
4. "Driving on ice: Drive as if you had raw eggs between your foot and the pedals."(Slow and Careful) -
Prov 14:16... "A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, But a fool is arrogant and careless"
5. "A home should be clean enough to be sanitary and dirty enough to be lived in."(Not perfect, always faithful) -
Heb 3:6..."but Christwas faithful as a Son over His house — whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end."
Unfortunately, not everyone's earthly father wants to protect and save them. But fortunately and thankfully our Heavenly Father "... desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." 1 Tim 2:4 .
And that's the basic truth. 1 Cross + 3 Nails = 4 GIVEN
