Stolen Identity

No one wants to hear that their identity has been stolen. Someone else using your good name for their own personal gain is a terrible thing to do. The idea that someone else would violate your personage by stealing and destroying your reputation is despicable. And to make things worse, it is becoming one of the most common of crimes to date. It takes forever to wade through the red tape trying to restore what someone else has taken advantage of.

No one wants their identity stolen and no one wants to see anyone else use someone else's identity...except for Christians!

"What?" Please, let me explain: Christians are the world’s greatest identity thieves. Well, maybe not thieves...let's say "users". We borrowed the identity of our Lord and Savior when we put on Christ in baptism.

Gal 3:27-28..." For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." God looks at us with His eyes, knows who we are, and yet sees His only begotten, sinless son because we are clothed in Him.

The beautiful part is that we get to use the "perfect" identity that belongs to Christ without having to pay the penalties..."For the wages of sin is death, and instead we gather the benefits..but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom 6:23.

So this is the one case where using someone else's identity is not a crime, but a magnificent gift. Thank you Lord for letting us have your identity.
