With all of this talk about family, I became interested in my ancestry. What I have found out is downright amazing. As I traced my DNA, it provided some astounding and marvelous insights as to my spiritual lineage.
My “D” (Divine relationship) informed me I was related to God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20).
My “N” (Nature) could be traced all the way back to Noah (Genesis 9, especially vv. 1, 18, 19), and even to Adam (Genesis 1, especially vv. 27,28; 51-32, especially v.32).
Most heartening of all was my “A” (Associates), informing me that I was related to Abraham, and connected with some from all nations (Genesis 18:18, 19; Galatians 3:8-29; Romans 1:1-5; 16:25-27). Indeed, I am related to some from all nations, and all tribes and peoples and tongues (Revelation 7:9, 10).
This survey unfolded some other glorious facts. All of these people from the nations, tribes and tongues have been reconciled (reunited) in one family, though they are scattered over all the earth (Ephesians 2:11-16, especially v. 16; 1 Timothy 3:14, 15). What a fantastic and fabulous family is the heritage I have. Paul even mentioned how some had been “alienated and enemies in your minds and evil works,” but they had become “holy and without blemish and unprovable” (Colossians 1:19-22). No wonder Paul wrote, and be ye thankful” (Colossians 3:12-15, especially v. 15).
At this present time, I surely cannot visit all my family, but I have visited some of my family in Jerusalem, Canada, India, Russia, Nigeria, South Africa, and some other nations. Time was spent with some who are black, brown, yellow, red, and white. All of us were not only one family, as to life, love, truth and teaching, but we all speak the same things (cf. 1 Corinthians 1:10). What a phenomenal thing the Father has done in bringing us all together!!
I may never be able to trace my physical lineage and heritage, but that doesn’t bother me too much. Because, by my spiritual lineage, heaven will be my home (1 Peter 1:3-5), and that surely will be enough!!
