Our Spiritual Body Parts

Paul described the members of the church as a body. Each part being necessary for the proper function of the system (I Cor. 12:12-27). Many parts - one body. We realize that none of us are the "eye", or the "ear" of the church...but it certainly paints a clear picture of the different parts of Christ's body - the Church to which we belong.

Our spiritual body also consists of multiple parts: "Jesus" is the "heart" of our spiritual body... the center of our spiritual existence. Nothing can live without a heart.

The "circulatory system" is "Love". It is that which nurtures the entire spirit. The spiritual body is dead without these two components - the heart and circulatory system.

The "Word of God" is it's "skeleton", holding together our spiritual body. It is the solid foundation on which our spirit is built.

"Faith" is the "muscle" of our spirit, allowing it to grow and function within us. It should grow stronger with exercise and usage and if we don't use it, we loose it. We can easily suffer from spiritual atrophy.

"Grace" is the spirit's "breath". It keeps us alive and eternal. We would surely die without the Grace of God. Remember, the wages of sin is death... but the wages of grace is righteousness.

The "Blood of Christ" is the "appearance" of the spirit within us. It keeps us pure and clean as it continually washes away our sins. The "mind" of our spirit helps us become unconformed - to be "transformed" by the "renewing" of our thoughts...

that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
- Romans 13:2

Perhaps you can think of additional parts of your spiritual body. I am just thankful to God for choosing to have His Spirit dwell within us. He only had one reason... He loves His children.
