Be Strong & Courageous

Joshua 1: 8-9, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I’ve been thinking about this passage lately. I know that the Book of the Law referenced in this passage is referring to the Old Covenant, but I can’t help but think about how true this statement rings for the entire Bible.

During this time of definitive uncertainty in our society, where have we turned for our strength? The News? Politicians? Scientists? Where is the strength & solace in these things? It’s not there. It’s clear because all we have to do is trust in these things and we are disappointed/discouraged every time. We will have to live our lives in fear every time.

Our hope, strength & solace comes from the Lord. When we meditate on His Word, we draw closer to Him. When we do what is written in the Word, we will be strong and courageous in Him and He will be with us wherever we go! We serve a mighty God who starts and stops plagues, who parts the waters, & who offers us everlasting life! Let’s remember who is truly in control as we move forward in these uncertain times.
