“Work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you…” Philippians 2:12-13
We can’t earn our salvation, God added us to His kingdom when we confessed the name of his Son and were baptized into Christ.
“Work out your own salvation” doesn’t mean to find out how to be saved. It means to work your salvation with the abilities , time, health, and wisdom that God has given you. God has worked from the beginning and He is still working for you and I (John 5:17). We are responsible for the “talents” that each of us has received from God. In the parable of the talents the Lord returned and demanded an accounting from each servant. So it will be with you and I. Our Lord has left but He is coming back. God expects faith and service from each of us. We will answer for the service well rendered or wasted.
How are you working your salvation? What are the spiritual sacrifices you are offering to God? In what ways are you working your abilities and time to serve in His kingdom/church while he is away?
God has placed each of us in His church for His special purpose (1 Corinthians 12:18). Each of us has received a gift to serve on another (1 Peter 4:10). Each of us are being built (by God) into a spiritual house to offer spiritual gifts to God.
Are you and I working our salvation?
