Filling Up

Growing up in a family of athletes, sports are a big part of our lives. When all 5 kids were in the house, we would have baseball games in Northwest Oklahoma and basketball games in Oklahoma City, so my mom had to choose who was her favorite for the weekend to go watch!

Now that I am fixing to graduate college, I have noticed that a substantial part of my life was in my athletics. When the summer would come and I was away from sports, I would fill my life in ways that were not great: food, video games, and screen time, but those things would only seem to satisfy me temporarily.

But in Ephesians 3:19, Paul talks about how he hopes that we are “filled up to all the fullness of God.” I have noticed that whenever I listen and sing music that up lifts me, read my Bible, through genuine prayers of uplifting and help for others, I feel accomplished for the day!

If we want to truly be filled and satisfied, then we must be filled up with things that are spiritually affecting us. He can occupy the spaces in my life, and He can do the same with you! What is it that you are being filled with? Are you filled with the items of man? Or are you being filled with the examples of Jesus?
