A Place Prepared for Us!

Yesterday, I went to a funeral for a sweet lady that was from my hometown congregation who had fought ALS for 2 years, but hardly ever did she not have a smile on her face. She was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also very involved with the congregation itself, helping with Bible classes for children, establishing VBS for the community, and financial support for people to attend church camps.

During the service, the song leader had led the song “No Tears In Heaven” talking about how even though there might be tears being shed here on Earth for her death, there’s no more pain in the place that she is going. I looked through the crowd and there were only a handful of people (including her grandchildren) who had shed tears. These people knew where she was going, and it’s to the greatest place ever, home with the Lord!

The preacher then closed with John 14:1-3, emphasizing her faith in the God who created the world, gave his son to die, all for a relationship with us! I want to emphasize verse 3,

“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

Jesus is emphasizing that He is building this place for those that believe in Him. I know this lady has Jesus waiting there to greet her into Heaven. Let us take joy in continuing to be faithful, so we can have that same confidence Jesus will be waiting for us too!
