The Complex Season of Christmas

The Complex Season of Christmas

The seasonal spirit of Christmas resounds all around;

Sales gimmicks for the Young and the Old abound;

Bargains by the bunches blend with Gifts galore;

Magnetic messages draw crowds to every store!

The Cry is “Save our economy,” rather than “Save souls!”

Growth of sales and promotion of purchases are coveted goals;

Glistening lights, snow men and reindeer brighten the scene;

To display a donkey and manger is a rejected extreme!

The above lines depict “Scrooge” across the land,

As “worldly ways” govern and control on every hand;

Parties and Celebrations of the sordid kind

Are many, some immoral, and easy to find!

Yet “Pessimism” ne’er tells all of the story,

For many sincerely shout, “To God be the glory;”

Helping hands and sharing hearts joyfully combine

To bless the homeless and needy in a food line!

“Toys for Tots” are gladly stacked up high

For the poor, deprived boys and girls who pass by;

Families unite, with Joy and Gifts on display,

Remembering God as the Giver, to Whom they pray!

For some, tis’ a Season of inner sickness and sorrow,

As lonely they look out on a dismal tomorrow;

For others, tis’ a springboard of holiness and hope,

Bringing “Peace and Good Will,” as Luke surely wrote!

The Challenge to Christmas to one and to all

Is “How much of Heaven’s Message do we recall??

A Savior was born, and ever lives to redeem~~~

That Greatest Gift bridges the Past, the Future and all in between!

If the Season should focus Truth in Your heart,

Your greatest joy would be to become a part

Of history’s richest and most rewarding time,

When Heaven blest earth with a Savior Divine!
