I contemplated a long time on my New Year’s resolution for this year. Guess what it is? This New Year I resolved not to make a New Year’s resolution! I’m tired of breaking them… and then I realized by not making one, I made one and therefore, I already broke it. Kinda like sin, huh? Paul wrote something about it in Rom 7:15-16… “I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate”.
Since I failed at making resolutes, perhaps I should make some New Years proposals for anyone – especially myself:
Proposal #1 – For all of us to spend more time in worship (including Sunday nights, and Wednesday evenings) and service to the Lord;
Proposal #2 – For all Christians to spend just ½ the time reading the Word of God as they spend on face book;
Proposal #3 - For all of us to remember not to judge but rather to pray for each other. I can’t think of anyone who needs help more than me. How about you?
Proposal #4 – To trust in God more , and myself less .
Proposal #5 – Even though I will disappoint Him, I will try to make Him pleased with a humble effort to become a better “child of God” and I will pray for the church.
Proposal #6 – To pray for the government of our great country to return to God and His principles.
Proposal #7 – To especially pray for our spiritual leaders as well as our political leaders. One effects our future, the other our present.
Proposal #8 - To spend more time and attention to: those I love, in both my spiritual and physical families; and pray for our children.
Proposal #9 - To remember to count myself “blessed” no matter what shape I find myself.
Proposal #10 – To not forget what the target is…to live forever in Heaven with God, our Savior, His Spirit, the apostles and saints!
Amen?? (Feel free to use these proposals instead of resolutions) God Bless You this year.
Rom 12:1-2…”I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”.
