
Bridge Builders
In our 2023 Summer Series, various speakers will be speaking on the topic of building bridges within the church and community.
Barry Day focuses on the challenges and complexities of relationships, particularly when they break down or encounter difficulties. Barry discusses various scenarios in which relationships can become strained or fall apart, such as conflicts with friends, strained family relationships, marital issues, and even disagreements within the Church. He emphasizes the importance of building and rebuilding bridges in these relationships and draws parallels to biblical figures who faced similar challenges.
Barry also explores why relationships fail, citing reasons like faulty design, poor construction, inadequate maintenance, and external forces. He highlights the role of pride and prejudice in relationship breakdowns and stresses the need to avoid building our lives and relationships on worldly principles.
He provides insights into the complexities of human relationships and the importance of working to repair and strengthen these bridges when they face challenges or break down.
In this session by Daniel Mayfield, the focus is on the importance of the family as the foundation of culture and society. Daniel explains that strong families are essential for building a Christian culture and how the breakdown of family structures can lead to the erosion of cultural values. He discusses the theological aspects of family and emphasizes that families are vital in waging spiritual warfare against the challenges posed by a godless culture. The message revolves around the idea that strong, united families are a powerful force in building a Christian culture.
Jon Arvin distinguishes between commands, which are obligations imposed by God, and traditions, which are instructions passed down from people. He emphasizes that traditions, while not inherently bad, should not be treated as equivalent to God's word and that they are subject to change and interpretation.
