Never before in human history has there been such an opportunity to read, study and understand God’s word than there is right now in the United States of America.  Never!

There is more literacy in the English language and more freedom and resources available to exercise this literacy in this country than the world has ever seen.

There are any number of English translations of the Bible available so that each of us can find one that reads on our level of proficiency.  In addition to this, you can now download most any translation you want to a computer or handheld device.

Other resources like concordances, commentaries, lexicons, dictionaries and much more are available everywhere at very reasonable expense.  Free online resources abound on the internet as well.

The church here in Choctaw, Oklahoma alone provides at least four Bible classes and two sermons a week, every week.  Many live near Bible based universities where advanced classes can even be audited for free.

Audio and video resources have also proliferated the market so that you hardly have to read since you can easily find the means to have the Bible and/or Bible lessons presented for your benefit while you sit in the comfort of your home, your car, as you travel and even as you exercise.

If you can read this article, and if you are reading it in the U.S., then you are more privileged with the opportunity to become proficient in the word of God than nearly all who have lived before you.  Wow!  Think of it.  Think of what you could do with only a little commitment and discipline!

What will you do with the greatest opportunity in human history to learn what God has had written down for us?  Take just fifteen minutes a day for the next week and give yourself to a study of the Bible.  I guarantee you will not be sorry you did.
