Paul wrote a clear and detailed denunciation of the practices of homo- sexuality and lesbianism in Romans 1:18-32. In verse 32 he also wrote:
...and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. (emphasis mine)
Paul, the author of the above through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit had been an “approver” himself. He confessed to being in agreement with those who stoned Stephen to death even though he only held the coats of the ones who actually threw the rocks, Acts 22:20 & 26:10.
Jesus clearly condemned the sons of those who murdered the prophets for “approving” the deeds of their fathers:
Woe to you, for you build the tombs of the prophets, and it was your fathers who killed them. So you are witnesses and approve the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and you build their tombs. Luke 11:47-48
It is one thing to practice sin and to hate and abhor it even as you prac- tice it. Paul also wrote about this in Romans 7:14ff. It is quite another thing to practice a sin and seek openly to justify its practice and to work to have it appear as legitimately moral behavior to others and thereby gain its approval.
Jesus strictly warned that anyone who demeaned or diminished any of the teachings of the law or taught others to do so would be considered least in the kingdom, Matthew 5:19. He said in another place that if an- yone cause any to stumble that it would be better for him to have a mill- stone tied around his neck and to be cast into the sea, Matthew 18:6.
Please consider these things in light of the presidential election. Of course neither man is a paragon of Biblical perfection, but we must be careful of what we approve.
