God Does Not Change

Much is changing in our culture. Morals once accepted as foundational to good character  have been adjusted to fit a more “modern” view.

This world puts pressure on any who profess Godliness to accept all kinds of immoral  behaviors as approved. We are faced with nearly daily reports of those “coming out” in the  news as they boldly and unashamedly boast of their same-sex lovers.

We are pressured to change, but hang in there. God never changes:

“For I, the Lord, do not change” Malachi 3:6
“You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands; they will perish, but You remain; and they all will become old  like a garment, and like a mantle You will roll them up; like a garment they will also be  changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an  end” Hebrews 1:10-12
“Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever” Hebrews 13:8

But wait! Not only is God unchanging, but He has given us a kingdom that is unshakeable:

“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by  which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a  consuming fire” Hebrews 12:28-29

And so Christian,

“… consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against  Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart”, Hebrews 12:3.

We should expect the world to be changing around us since they have no authoritative  anchor to ground them in life. We should not be surprised when the world hates us for not  changing with them as John taught us in 1st John 3:13 and also Peter in 1st Peter 4:4-5. John and Peter of course got this from Jesus who Himself said that if they  called Him names, they would malign His followers as well, Matthew 10:25.

So let the world change as it seems to embrace an ever increasing insanity. We won’t be here  forever. Marty Kessler
