Below are just a few things I’ve discovered that really work to keep a church alive and shining the light of Jesus’ gospel.

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Preach the gospel to all creation. Hold fast your profession. Be steadfast and unmovable, abounding in the work of the Lord. Imitate what is good. Hold firmly to the traditions that were delivered you. Present your body as a living sacrifice. Keep the faith. Fight the good fight. Finish the course. Walk in the light. Pay closer attention to what you’ve heard. Hold fast the faithful word. Take up your cross daily. Make disciples of all men. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Seek the old paths and walk in them. Walk in truth. Go the strait and narrow way. Prove all things. Hold to what is good. Test the spirits to see whether they are of God. Contend earnestly for the faith. Continue in the words of Jesus.

Programs won’t do it. Human plans can’t get it done.

The Lord’s church has prospered in Choctaw for 75 years because the church has been faithful to Jesus’ New Testament teachings as the things written above enjoin on us. Isn’t it marvelous to know that we don’t have to come up with a new plan or develop big ideas of our own to thrive for another 75?

What has happened for the last 75 years is the fulfillment of 2nd Timothy 2:2, “The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
