Mary had a little boy, his soul was white as snow
But he never went to Bible school, ‘cause Mary wouldn’t go
He missed the story of the Christ that thrills a child’s mind
While other children learned of God, this boy was left behind
And as he grew from babe to youth, she saw to her dismay
His soul that once was snowy white, became a dingy gray
Realizing now that he was lost, she tried to win him back
By now the soul that once was white had turned an ugly black
She even started back to church, and Bible study too
She begged the preacher, “Isn’t there something you can do?”
The preacher tried and failed and said, “We’re just too far behind
I tried to tell you years ago, but you would pay no mind”
And so another soul is lost that once was white as snow
Bible study would have helped, but Mary wouldn’t go
(My addition)
Mary had a husband, who was the young boy’s dad
He too was an example, the biggest the boy had
But when it came to values, the son could see so clearly
The things his father cared not for – and those he held most dearly
And so it is with you dad, your son is watching you
As your life shapes his faith in God, what will your example do?
Does he ever see you study? Does he ever hear you pray?
What are the things he sees you do as he goes from day to day?
And when it’s time to worship or to meet with sainted brothers
Does he see you take the time to go, or do you prefer some others?
Whatever road you want him on, you have to be there first
You help him choose by what you choose, - choose life, and not the curse
