Almost out of the blue, a generous family member has offered to take Deb and myself on a tour of Israel! How great is that?!?!
Our itinerary will take us to Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, the valley of Megiddo, Capernaum, Caesarea Philippi, Magdala, the Jordan River, the Dead Sea, Masada, Jerusalem, the Pool of Siloam, the Mount of Olives, the Pool of
Bethesda and more.
A bonus will be that our travels will be lead by a very experienced guide who is a believer in Jesus as well as an Israeli himself and a veteran of their military.
I am very excited at the prospect of seeing so many places I have read about my whole life. We will go where Elijah defeated Jezebel’s 850 false prophets. We will see the ancient battlefield where men such as Sisera, Ahaziah & Josiah met with eternity. We will stand at the river that God parted like the Red Sea to allow the Israelites to cross into the promised land. We will walk in the city of David and stand at what is left of Solomon’s great temple.
Most of all, however, we will see places where Jesus walked while here in the flesh. We will look out over country sides he travelled with his disciples, preaching, teaching, healing and bringing light and life to our world of
darkness & death.
Please pray for us as we prepare, that we will be able to bring some of what we see and experience back with us to the glory of God.
While I am so grateful to get to go on this tour, I am also grateful that God does not require such a pilgrimage. Instead, he walks with us daily as pilgrims in this world, as we, like Abraham, look for a city whose builder and maker is the Almighty himself.
