Scholar?

To all you Bible scholars out there, keep up the good work. Please keep on digging deep into the word of God and revealing the insights you find there. We need those to see God & his majesty ever more clearly. Always value scholarship!

I am convinced, however, that God has not provided the written revelation of his word merely for those gifted with scholastic abilities.

Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have
hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.”, Matthew 11:25.

How can you read Jesus’ words above and not conclude that he has
provided the Bible as a guide to “regular folks” who longed to look into it seeking truth?

Jesus’ apostle wrote, “For when Gentiles who do not have the Law instinctively perform the requirements of the Law, these, though not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them…”, Romans 1:14-15.

Jesus spoke of “infants” having the truth revealed to them. His apostle spoke of the law written in our hearts that we know instinctively. The simplicity of the gospel message throughout holy scripture is that God loves you and wants to save you from the condemnation of your own sin.

This message of salvation is uncomplicated by any detail of Hebrew,
Aramaic, Greek, or some obscure theology. The apostles simply preached the message of the resurrection of Jesus, of faith in him and being baptized into him and into his death. This, they proclaimed without apology, would result in new life.

This message of Jesus changed the world, and remains the only one that will.
