Young People in the Bible

Young People in the Bible

Who were some of them, and what did they do?

Elihu – “I am young in years and you are old; therefore I was shy and afraid to tell you what I think”, Job 32:6. We can read Elihu’s story in the book of Job in chapters 32-37.

Elihu’s example?

  • He waited out of respect for his seniors
  • He listened to what they had to say
  • He spoke only in his turn
  • His words were full of wisdom

Then there was Esther, from the book named for her – “… who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?”, Esther 4:14.

  • Beautiful, but not a captive of her beauty.
  • Respectfully submitted to her uncle’s guidance
  • Courageously risked her life to save her people
  • Valued the welfare of others over a comfortable life

Do not forget Mark – “… bring Mark with you, for he us useful to me for service”, II Timothy 4:11

  • Did not allow a poor start to stop him from growing
  • Grew to become useful through the support and guidance of others
  • Wrote one of four gospels which has proclaimed Christ for 2,000 years

They matured in Godliness. They were humble rather than presumptuous. They yielded themselves to doing what was needed when it was
needed.
