Angels

But to which of the angels has He ever said, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET”? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
Hebrews 1:13-14
In the context of the letter, the inspired writer was primarily making a point about the preeminence of Jesus over the angels. In the process of making that point, however, he revealed a very important truth about angels in that they are sent to minister to God’s children, or heirs.

Imagine that! If you are a child of God, you have an angel, or angels, ministering to you. What do they do for you? No specifics are offered, but we know what they have done for others.

The Lord sent an angel to accompany Abraham’s servant and make his journey successful when commissioned to find a wife for Isaac, Genesis 24:40.

The Lord sent an angel to guide Israel to the promised land,
Exodus 23:20.

An angel fed Elijah with food that sustained him for forty days,
1st Kings 19:4-8.

A host of angels saved Elisha when besieged by the Syrian army, 2nd Kings 6:8-17.

A single angel delivered King Hezekiah and Jerusalem, killing 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night, 2nd Kings 19:35.

Angels even ministered to Jesus after His temptation by Satan, Matthew 4:11.

Just check your concordance for half a bazillion other references to things the Lord’s angels have done for His people.

In my estimation, the following is one of the most comforting and encouraging passages in the entire Bible:

I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my
fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces will never be
ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out
of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. Psalm 34:4-7

And remember that Jesus Himself warned:

See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that
their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in
heaven. Matthew 18:10

Thank God for His unseen ministers of good! He certainly provides for His own.
